in de digitale thuishaven van de Stichting Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta!
Onze stichting organiseerde van 1991 tot en met 2003 de Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta in het Zuid-Hollandse vestingstadje Hellevoetsluis, een tweejaarlijkse meerdaagse zeilregatta voor klassieke scherpe zeiljachten. Sinds 2005 is vlaggenproducent en buitenreclamespecialist Shipmate als hoofdsponsor aan het evenement verbonden. Gedurende de sponsorovereenkomst heet het evenement dan ook officieel de Shipmate Classic Yacht Regatta. Ook de laatste twee edities en de komende editie onder die naam worden georganiseerd door de Stichting DCYR. Naast een intensief wedstrijdprogramma bestaat het evenement voor de deelnemers uit bijpraten, feesten en het bewonderen van elkaars schepen. Intussen kunnen we met gepaste trots concluderen dat het evenement tot de grootste klassiekerfestivals van Noord-Europa behoort, met meer dan 200 deelnemende schepen.
IIn 1989 is de Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta voor het eerst georganiseerd als een voor het publiek aantrekkelijk evenement rondom internationale wedstrijden van klassieke zeiljachten. De eerste bijeenkomst bestond uit twee dagen wedstrijdvaren op het Haringvliet voor klassieke schepen, voornamelijk leden van de Vereniging Klassieke Scherpe Jachten (VKSJ), samen met enkele Engelse en Belgische klassiekers. Dit initiatief van de VKSJ heeft geleid tot de oprichting van de Stichting Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta en het evenement in haar huidige vorm. De VKSJ heeft nog steeds een belangrijke stem in de organisatie van het evenement en een groot deel van de deelnemers is lid van de VKSJ..
Op deze site wordt u op de hoogte gehouden van het wel en wee van de stichting. Voor de regatta’s zelf is een andere site opgezet: www.scyr.nl. Onder de knop “Doelstelling” vindt u verder waarvoor we dit alles eigenlijk doen. Alles over de komende editie van de SCYR vindt u onder “SCYR2009”, maar ook voor een terugblik op eerdere edities met foto’s en andere gegevens kunt u daar terecht. Via de knop “Bestuur” vindt u de bemanning van de stichting en hun taakverdeling. Onder “Links” zijn verwijzingen te vinden naar andere interessante sites op het gebied van (klassieke) schepen.

Welcome to the “digital homeport” of the Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta (DCYR) foundation!
From 1991 up to 2003 the foundation has organized a bi-annual sailing regatta in the fortified harbour town of Hellevoetsluis in the province of Zuid Holland. Participation is exclusively open to classic sharp yachts and selected other classes and will be spread over several days.
From 2005 onward Shipmate, a flag producer and open air advertisement specialist has attached its name to the event as the main sponsor. For the duration of the sponsoring contract the name of the event officially reads as Shipmate Classic Yacht Regatta (SCYR). Similar to the previous two regattas, this current one will be organized by the DCYR foundation.
Apart from the extensive regatta programme, the event also comprises socializing, partying and admiring each others boats.
With justified pride we may conclude that this event will be one of the largest classics festivals in Northern Europe with over 200 participating yachts.
In 1989, as an initiative of the ‘Vereniging Klassieke Scherpe Jachten’ (VKSJ) (Association of Classic Sharp Yachts) the first Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta was organized around international races with classic sailing yachts with the added bonus of an attractive event for the general public.
This first regatta consisted of two days of racing for classic yachts on the Haringvliet. It was attended mainly by members of the VKSJ and some English and Belgian classics.
This VKSJ initiative has lead to the establishment of the Dutch Classic Yacht Regatta foundation and subsequently to the development of the event in its present form.
The VKSJ, established in Amsterdam, is an influential party within the organization.
