Het evenement in 2007 is weer afgelopen. Net als in 2005 waren de weersomstandigheden wisselend, waarbij om veiligheidsredenen de wedstrijden op vrijdag zijn afgelast, en de avond daarvoor zelfs de feesttent is ontruimd.
Heel tragisch was het overlijden van John Wainwright tijdens de tocht van Harwich naar de Roompot. Vanaf de eerste Classic Yacht Regatta is John steeds aanwezig geweest. En hoewel aangeslagen hebben deelnemers en organisatoren gezamenlijk het evenement toch tot een succes weten te maken.

The Shipmate Classic Yacht Regatta 2007 has been sailed. The weather conditions were not quite favorable. On Friday all races had to be cancelled and on thursday evenening even the marquee had to be evacuated for safety reasons.
A severe blow to all of us was the tragic death of John Wainwright during the passage from Harwich to Roompot. John had been participating in the Classic Yacht Regatta from the beginning and he made sure the event was on the East Coast Old Gaffers agenda. Despite being affected by his death participants and organisers alike turned the event into a succes.
